Kirsi Neuvonen and Design Dishcloths

Bringing Art to Your Home
More Joy Collaboration with Kirsi Neuvonen

As summer arrives, we are delighted to present our new environmentally friendly dishcloth collection, created in collaboration with the renowned artist Kirsi Neuvonen. Her artworks can be admired from June 13 to August 24, 2025, at the Finlayson Art Area in Tampere, at Galleria Himmelblau. Himmelblau is Finland’s leading printmaking workshop, showcasing and selling artists’ works. During the free exhibition, you can purchase your favorite art, postcards and dishcloths directly from the shop. The exhibition is easy to find within the Finlayson area – detailed directions are available here.

Kirsi Neuvonen – Art for Everyday and Celebration

Kirsi Neuvonen (b. 1960, Keuruu) studied at Savonlinna Art High School, followed by the art program at Orivesi College. She graduated from Lahti Art School in 1984. Over her 30-year career as a printmaker, Neuvonen has received prestigious awards including the Finnish State Prize for Visual Arts in 1987 and the Suomi Prize in 1997. She has also received numerous grants and scholarships. You can find a full list of her achievements on the artist’s official website.

Neuvonen’s art is characterized by deep colors and often portrays women or animals. Her works appeal to viewers through their classic beauty, without being overly polished. The authenticity in her art invites closer examination. Although the pieces are created for herself, Neuvonen emphasizes that they are meant to live on in people’s daily lives and special moments. This philosophy is also reflected in our dishcloths featuring her artwork—bringing beauty into everyday tasks. Some prints are also available in larger sizes, perfect for wiping broader surfaces.

Make a Summer Day Trip to Tampere’s Himmelblau

The art experience at Himmelblau begins even before you enter the building. On your way to the exhibition, you can admire Neuvonen’s “Puku” works painted on the asphalt outdoors. The beautiful architectural surroundings enhance the vivid colors of the artwork, adding a finishing touch like a cherry on top. The brick-paved courtyard comes alive in a new way—offering a summery mood and plenty of photo opportunities. If you’re into photography, the courtyard is a must-see in itself. Be sure to reserve time for both the indoor exhibition and the picturesque surroundings.

Art for Everyone – And Every Home

Even a small amount of art at home can inspire amidst a hectic daily routine. It brings beauty into the environment, creating a more pleasant atmosphere and helping you relax. Every piece of art makes your home more uniquely yours. Kirsi Neuvonen’s goal is to make art more accessible to everyone through products like dishcloths. Art isn’t just about expensive gallery pieces—it can be practical, approachable, and meaningful.

By purchasing our dishcloths, you’re supporting not only the artist and the exhibition, but also Finnish art culture. Small products like these help ensure we can continue enjoying remarkable works in the future.
